Pedro Club

The Pedro Club, Hackney Council, Kings Park Moving Together (KPMT) and Sport England are working in partnership to plan and implement a capital investment project at the Pedro Club, 175 Rushmore Rd, E5. Originally established in 1929, the Pedro Club remains one of the oldest functioning youth clubs in London.
The Club is the current tenant at 175 Rushmore Road and holds a long-term lease with 27 years remaining, on a long lease granted in 1969.

The Club is highly valued by the local community, local organisations, and a wider range of local stakeholders. Led by James Cook MBE, a local resident and former British Super-Middleweight Boxing Champion, the Pedro Club delivers much needed services to young people and residents in Clapton, East London. The Club's mission as a Charitable Interest Organisation is to support young people and their families to fulfil their potential through activities and services, based in their community centre in Hackney. Those activities and services include sports, the amateur boxing club, exercise, life skills, social activities, ‘summer camp’, a cycle hub and mentoring opportunities. The overall project aims to significantly improve the current premises and facilities to enhance and extend the Club's services.

Freehaus have initially been appointed to work with the Club and its wider stakeholders to develop the project brief & design options, whilst also identifying opportunities for income generation in support of the Club's long-term financial viability to ensure that any proposals support the Club's overall vision.
